All are free to attend for our visitors and exhibitors and will take place on the "EFTTEX Extra Presentation Stand" which you can find between halls 2 & 5

Official Opening Ceremony and Drinks Reception


15:00     Introduction and welcome by Olivier Portrat

EFTTA & EFTTEX new CEO Olivier Portrat would like to invite all exhibitors and visitors who attend EFTTEX 2020 to our official opening ceremony and drink’s reception on Thursday 11th June from 14:15-16:00.  This event is free to attend, complimentary refreshments will be available whilst you are entertained with live music from a local Czech musician. Olivier will then deliver a speech on the future of the fishing industry as a whole and the work of the association. Our musician will then close the ceremony whilst you network.

Patent, Trademark and Design Registration, Protection & Infringement

Tania Clark, Partner and Trade Mark and Design attorney and Russell Edson, Partner and Patent attorney at Withers & Rogers LLP will be running a presentation which will cover the three main intellectual property rights, relevant to the sector, including a discussion of how to obtain them, how they can be enforced and some practical examples from established case law.


  1. Trademarks
    ● TM and Brand dichotomy & the importance of monitoring your mark, clearing the proposed mark and avoiding infringement
    ● Requirements for a mark to be registered inc. classification of goods and further requirement for shape marks and unconventional marks.
    ● Opposition proceedings

  2. Patents
    ● Requirements for patentability i.e. novelty, inventive step, detecting infringement

  3. Designs
    ● Requirements: Novelty and individual character
    ● Differences between EU unregistered and registered rights
    ● Practical examples from case law

"Choosing the right media outlet for your business"


How can you maximise your brand’s exposure through the different types of media out there today?


This practical but fun session will discuss the types of media available and how you can get plenty of coverage for your company/brand/products. Learn how to write a press release, get an editor’s attention and, crucially, create your own content, getting the best from the right social media platforms. 

Speaker: John Hunter

Editor of international B2B magazine Tackle Trade World and director of PR, marketing and events consultancy HunterMedia.

John has been a journalist, writer and photographer all his working life and has spent the past 20 years specialising in the outdoor sector. He was the launch editor of Let’s Go Coarse Fishing and Tackle Trade World, headed up UK trade title Tackle & Guns for 17 years and was also editor-in-chief of international B2B magazine Gun Trade World.  Under his HunterMedia consultancy – which has worked with a string of brands throughout the industry including The Game Fair, Europe’s largest outdoor countryside festival – John has recently returned to the editor’s chair at Tackle Trade World.

In this session Adam will be focus on the magic and endless appeal of being out in nature, chasing big carp throughout the year, across the seasons. It will aim to capture both the romance and the obsession felt by many of our visitors. Take a break from your busy day and listen to a fellow passionate angler.



 SPEAKER: Adam Penning

Adam has worked in the angling industry since 1996. Roles have included running product development for three of the leading tackle companies. Since 2012, he has operated on a self employed basis as an angling guide, tutor, consultant, presenter and writer. Adam is a published author - his first book, 'Rolling in the Deep’ received universal acclaim from both the trade and the public. He regularly writes for all of the major publications, since 1998, and currently writes monthly for the Angling Times (Carp Feed), Total Carp and Carpology. (
